About

Laurie Pomeranz

I became a licensed therapist in 1998. I opened my private practice in 2020. Over the course of the last 25+ years, my training and practice have encompassed:

  • Providing agency and in-home hospice bereavement counseling and group therapy for bereaved partners and family members

  • Facilitating cognitive behavioral group therapy for men with AIDS and depression/anxiety

  • Counseling elementary and middle school students

  • Supporting teens and parents in San Francisco Catholic and Independent high schools

  • Creating and implementing parent education workshops on multiple topics related to adolescent development

I love this work because I am passionate about connecting authentically with people, and offering support, compassion and skills for creating change, and for living with an increased sense of joy and integrity.

MFTs are qualified to work with individuals, couples, families, and groups, including all age ranges, backgrounds and orientations, and can address multiple clinical issues. My practice is focused on individuals, ages 16 and up.

I received my B.A. in Psychology from Kenyon College, in Ohio, and my M.A. in Counseling Psychology from the University of San Francisco. I am a member of CAMFT (California Association of Marriage and Family Therapists,) and BAISHA (Bay Area Independent Schools Health Association). When I am not working, I love to travel with my family, particularly spending time out in nature and scuba diving. I love to write, to sing and dance, and to practice yoga.
